Geological Survey (USGS), Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) processed these data and produced a series of bathymetric surfaces and acoustic backscatter images. The surveys were conducted using the SIO R/V Melville outfitted with a 120-kHz Kongsberg EM-122 multibeam echosounder. In December 2013 Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) collected multibeam bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data in the Gulf of Santa Catalina and the San Diego Trough, southern California (SIO survey ID MV-1316).
